Today, we talk about 10-year vet Brandon Tanev.
Target: Brandon Tanev - LW - Age: 33 - 10 Years Experience
Brandon Tanev was an undrafted free agent who spent the first five seasons of his career with the Winnipeg Jets. After signing a free agent deal with the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2019, he was claimed by the Seattle Kraken in the expansion draft in 2021. After spending the last few seasons in the American Northwest, he was traded back to Winnipeg on March 7, 2025.
Stats
Tanev is coming off of a season where he played 79 total games and had 22 points. He scored 10 goals and had 12 assists for Seattle and Winnipeg. He only averaged around 12:30 minutes of ice time per game. Tanev has an 82 game average of 27 points.
Tanev does have 59 playoff games to his name, where he has a total of 14 points.
Previous Salary
Tanev signed a 6 year, $21,000,000 contract with a cap hit of $3,500,000 per season when he signed with Pittsburgh. Contracts experts put his new deal at $2.1 million per season for two seasons.
Realistic Chances Of A Signing: Cold
As much as people like Brandon Tanev and the way he plays, I don't think he'd want to come to Columbus. he has yet to win a Stanley Cup, and chances are he is going to want to go somewhere who is closer than the CBJ are.
Chances are, he goes back to Winnipeg and tries to get them over the hump of making a deep run in the playoffs. The Jets and Tanev are destined to be together it seems.
