Former Columbus Blue Jacket original Mathieu Darche now has the big job.

Mathieu Darche, former CBJ O.G. and current Director of Hockey Operations for the Tampa Bay Lightning, has reportedly been hired as the General Manager and executive vice president of the New York Islanders. A formal announcement is expected later today.

Darche played nine games in the CBJ's inaugural season and totaled 24 games in a Columbus jersey over three seasons. He also played for the AHL's Syracuse Crunch during those three seasons and had 149 points.

Darche has a lot of work to this summer. Between having the first overall pick in the upcoming draft, to figuring out the roster situation, it's safe to say he'll be a busy man.
