The Detroit Red Wings came out of Sunday's game with a 5-4 overtime victory, but they still lost. Michael Rasmussen was laid out on a hit by Anaheim Ducks forward Trevor Zegras.

Zegras Earns Hearing with Player Safety for Hit on Rasmussen Zegras Earns Hearing with Player Safety for Hit on Rasmussen Per Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff, Anaheim Ducks forward Trevor Zegras will soon face a hearing with the NHL's Department of Player Safety for his hit Sunday afternoon on Detroit Red Wings forward Michael Rasmussen. The hit did not earn so much as a minor penalty in real time, though now the league has decided to give it a longer look.

Rasmussen had only played eight minutes in the game before he took a hit to the head from Zegras. No penalty was called on the play.

Earlier Monday morning, it was revealed that Zegras will have a hearing with Player Safety for the hit.

Todd McLellan's reaction (and the reaction of Rasmussen's teammates) shows that a penalty should have been called on the play. Player safety has deemed the play "interference."

According to my colleague, Sam Stockton, Rasmussen was absent at Monday's practice.

What kind of punishment should Zegras face? One game? Multiple games? More than five? Or should he get a fine?
