“I love it when a plan comes together.”

The Detroit Red Wings might not have started well this year, but things are looking bright now. The team put together a nice run before the 4 Nations Face-off best-on-best tournament, which will see Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin play in the championship game on Thursday.

Additionally, things are going swimmingly with the Grand Rapids Griffins. With 56 points in 49 games, the Griffins sit three points back of the top team in the Central Division, the Milwaukee Admirals.

This success is in no small part due to the goaltending the team has received this season, notably Sebastian Cossa's performance.

His loss last night aside, Cossa has been solid for the Griffins this year. In 28 games, he has a record of 15-10-3 with a 2.32 goals against average (GAA), a .915 save percentage (SV%), and one shutout.

While his record isn’t an improvement on last year’s totals, he’s seen an uptick in GAA and SV%. The 6-foot-7 goalie appears to be finding his stride.

Of all AHL goalies who have played 900 minutes or more, Cossa ranks very high. He is seventh in GAA, seventh in SV%, 10th in wins, 11th in shots against, and seventh in games played.

Let’s also remember that Cossa is only 22-years-old. He still has a lot of room to grow.

However, the organization can’t help but look at one of their best prospects having a great season and being an integral part of their team’s success.

The plan is all coming together.
