All signs point to Kailer Yamamoto of the Edmonton Oilers being traded this offseason. These four team would be great organizations for the young forward to find his game.
Kailer Yamamoto's time in an Edmonton Oilers uniform is (more than likely) drawing to a close. It's no secret that the Oilers need to shed some cap to make room for Evan Bouchard's new deal, plus all the other expiring contracts they want to renew.

Yamamoto's tenure with the Oilers has been up and down. The winger has shown great promise but hasn't been able to put everything together yet. His 25 point 2022-23 campaign is the straw that broke the camel's back. With a $3.1M contract, he needs to produce more than at a bottom six level.

It's never easy to say goodbye to a player the fans love. Yamamoto was easy to cheer for and will be missed. Let's look at the four best landing spots for Yamamoto. I won't be looking at any specific trade proposals, just which organizations could be the best fit for him.
The Arizona Coyotes are still rebuilding, and that's a good thing for Yamamoto. He would immediately fit into their top six, with star forward prospect Logan Cooley still at least a year away from playing in the NHL. They have a great pool of prospects and will be incredibly competitive in a few years. That should take the pressure off of Yamamoto to perform at a certain level. He could get more power play minutes, which should help boost his offensive production.

The Anaheim Ducks are another great team for the young forward to end up with. They have an even more exciting prospect pool, as well as the 2nd overall pick in the upcoming 2023 NHL Entry Draft at the end of June. With Trevor Zegras, Troy Terry, Ryan Strome and Mason MacTavish in the top six already, Yamamoto could be a great complimentary player to them.

The next team on the list is one that could make a serious push to make it to the playoffs, the Detroit Red Wings. They have incredible young players over there with Moritz Seider and Lucas Raymond. They have young prospects who could start with the NHL club at the beginning of next season with Simon Edvinsson and Marco Kasper. They also have room on the wing for a player like Yamamoto to play in the top six. The Red Wings need goal scoring, but this is an environment that can help Yamamoto find his game.
The only team to make the playoffs this year from this list, the New Jersey Devils. Because of that, they offer a unique position for a young forward of Yamamoto's ilk. He can find his stride on the 2nd or 3rd line and his team still has a good shot of making the playoffs. He can offer a lot to any team that has him on their roster. He forechecks hard, skates hard and gives every shift his all.

With the Oilers win-now mentality every dollar used needs to be maximized. There is too much uncertainty wrapped up in a player who still needs to find the consistency in his game to produce regularly. But if he could be traded to one of these organizations, that would be the next best option for him.
