
The former Minnesota Wild defenseman has been claimed off waivers by the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Dakota Mermis was originally signed by the Maple Leafs before the 2024-25 season. He missed the start of the season with an injury and was eventually placed on waivers by Toronto to send him to the American Hockey League (AHL).
But the Utah Hockey Club claimed Mermis. The 6-foot defenseman played in one game for Utah and was placed on Waivers by the club on Thursday.
Mermis, played 54 games for the Wild across four NHL seasons. He has skated in 74 career NHL games and now has been claimed off waivers by Toronto.
