The Minnesota Wild recalled top prospect Liam Ohgren from Iowa with four games left this season, the team announced Wednesday.
The 20-year-old winger will presumably make his NHL debut later this week when the Wild continue their road trip against the Vegas Golden Knights Friday and San Jose Sharks Saturday.
Ohgren, one of the Wild's top prospects, scored 12 goals and 19 points in 26 games this season with Farjestad BK in the Swedish Elite League.
Ohgren served as team captain for Sweden in the 2024 IIHF World Junior Championship, helping the team earn a Silver medal with three assists.
While the Wild were officially eliminated from playoff contention after a 5-2 loss to the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday night, they're getting a glimpse of the future right now with goalie Jesper Wallstedt up and now Ohgren recalled.
The Wild reassigned Ohgren to the Iowa Wild on April 2 after his season in Sweden ended. Ohgren skated in three games with Iowa before the recall.
The Wild drafted Ohgren in the first round of the 2022 NHL Draft at 19th overall and signed him to a three-year entry-level contract on July 16, 2022. He will wear No. 28 with the Wild.
