Carey Price and Shea Weber To Be Inducted Into The B.C. Hockey Hall of Fame

Carey Price and former Montreal Canadiens defenseman Shea Weber are among the newest inductees for the 2024 B.C. Hockey Hall of Fame.

Weber was named the 30th captain in Montreal Canadiens history before the 2018-19 season. He has played 16 seasons in the NHL. He has yet to formally retire but hasn’t dressed for action since the 2020-21 campaign. The Sicamous, B.C.-born defenseman has amassed 224 goals and 589 points in 1038 career games. His list of accolades includes a WHL championship and MVP, a World Junior Championship Gold Medal, two Olympic Gold Medals, a Mark Messier Leadership Award, and so on. The blueliner was the 21st Habs captain inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in June.

In a news release, Weber stated “It’s really a big honor being a B.C. boy in a small town of Sicamous. I was lucky to play my whole minor hockey and junior career in B.C. and to get this call definitely means a lot.”

Price, who has yet to retire, has spent all 15 seasons of his NHL career wearing blue-blanc-rouge. The netminder has a career record of 361-261-79, with 49 shutouts and a split of 2.51/.917. Born in Anahim Lake, B.C., the goaltender has garnered a list of accolades that include a Calder Cup and Calder MVP, CHL Goaltender of the Year, an Olympic Gold Medal, Lionel Conacher Award, Lou Marsh Trophy, Vezina Trophy, Ted Lindsay Award, Hart Trophy, Jennings Trophy, Bill Masterson Trophy, and so on.

Price told CTV News Montreal, “Obviously I’m incredibly honored to be inducted into the Hall of Fame, especially with a teammate of mine, that means a lot to me… Sitting here at home in my room full of equipment and everything, it’s really humbling to have been able to experience such an amazing ride from Anahim Lake to now.”

The induction ceremony will take place on Friday, July 19. The two long-time Canadiens join Tom Kowal, Scott Bradley and the 2010 Fort St. John Flyers team.
