It would appear that former Montreal Canadiens winger Mike Cammalleri has received some online attention from the Habs faithful.
It all started when the Canadiens' social media team posted their second giveaway on their channels. The contest asks that fans identify a mystery skater based on their silhouette and guess for a chance to win a hat.
Although the player hasn’t been announced yet, the posting prompted fans on the Habs Reddit page to post their favorite moments from the former forward.
Cammalleri played 170 regular season games for Montreal, amassing 54 goals and 119 points during that span. Many fans will remember the infamous mid-game trade that involved the Toronto-born attacker, wherein he was sent to Calgary along with Karri Ramo and a fifth-round pick in exchange for Rene Bourque, Patrick Holland and a second-rounder.
Personally, the best goal from Cammalleri was the “home run” he smashed against the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2010 Eastern Conference Semi-Final. In a sequence where the Habs put pressure on Pens’ netminder Marc-Andre Fleury, the puck flew up in the air around the crease, only to be batted at by the forward who smashed the disc into the back of the net.
Fans didn’t just stop at Cammalleri. Almost instantly, as Redditors scrambled to post memorable highlights, posts were created showcasing great goals from notable contributors over the years. Names included Tomas Plekanec, Alex Kovalev, and of course, P.K. Subban.
