NHL Network analyst and former NHL player Stu Grimson believes that the New Jersey Devils have what it takes to be the best team in the Metro Division this season.
"Jersey, for me, in the Metro, is a team to keep an eye on."
Grimson talked about their 2022–23 season and how they had 112 points and beat the New York Rangers in the playoffs.
He also highlighted some of their strongest areas on their roster, with the top being their defence core.
"Dougie Hamilton, we anticipate Dougie's going to be healthy next year. They added Brett Pesce; he comes over by way of a free agent signing from the Canes. This is a really solid defender; he's got some offensive upside but is very skilled as a defender as well."
The NHL Network also had a graphic on the screen about the Devils' projected lineup. Which can be seen at the start of their video that they posted on X/Twitter.
Lastly, Grimson mentioned the goaltending department and the challenges that GM Tom Fitzgerald has had at the position during his time.
"Markstrom can't do it by himself; the group in front of him really needs to make a contribution as well, but Jersey, for me, in the Metro is a team to keep an eye on. I think they're capable of just about anything."
It is also worth noting that the Devils also signed a very good regular-season coach who will work to get the best out of them all year long.
New Jersey could be in for a repeat of the 2022–23 season this year.
