When The Rangers host the Blue Jackets tonight at The Garden, the Blueshirts had better be SEEING RED.
Red, for being angry at themselves for blowing a two-goal third period lead last night in Ottawa and then abjectly messing up in overtime.
Red, for big-time Emperor Igor Shesterkin fouling up the tying goal and six-holing the Senators OT winner.
Red, for Big Al Lafreniere playing small when he needed to be playing large.
Red, for taking too many foolish penalties. (Coach is the Too Many Men gig, your new hobby?)
Red, for making stupid decisions with the puck; as in the awful pass that led to the game-winner.
Had enough?
Now the good news: The Blueshirts should beat the Blue Jackets tonight because Jonathan Quick will be in goal; not the other guy.
They should win because they are in their own rink and since both Columbus and your Beloved Blueshirts each have 68 points, the motivation never has been more intense for the Locals and fans.
This should be an easy two points for New York because – as The Maven has often said – they are the better team.
EXCEPT for one thing: The Blue Jackets have the better coach just as Ottawa's Travis Green made Peter Laviolette turn red at the end.
Red as in Brady Tkachuk's goal light!
