"You know what the happiest animal on Earth is? It's a goldfish. It has a 10-second memory. Be a goldfish"

    - Ted Lasso

The Ottawa Senators' 5-4 overtime loss to the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday won't go down as one of Linus Ullmark's finest performances. But to his credit, he faced the media, answered all the questions, and says he plans to be like a goldfish now.

That's a reference to the TV show, Ted Lasso, the soccer coach who tells his players to be goldfish because the fish have a 10-second memory, allowing them to easily move on from mistakes rather than dwelling on them. Every Senator could use some of that advice tonight.

Here are three key questions and answers from Ullmark's post-game media availability tonight.

How did you see the third period play out from your vantage point?

I mean, we came out really good, scored two quick ones. I think the takeaway from this is about closing games.... Some unfortunate bounces, and some unfortunate goals I'd like to have back, but I thought we battled through, and I think that we deserved two points tonight.

What did you see on the goal you allowed in overtime?

I don't know; it's just a standard procedure going down there, thinking it's closed off, and for some unknown reason, it goes in. It can't tell you about how it goes in or why it goes in. I'm probably going to do that a hundred more times, and I would do exactly the same thing. I was just as shocked as everybody else in the building that it actually went in.

Is it good to get right back on the saddle and look forward to Saturday night?

Yeah, I mean, it's all about having the mind of a goldfish in this league. I'll be pissed off about this one. It really stinks because I felt that we really deserved this one with the way that we played, especially when you're letting this many goals in. And this has been happening too much this season as well, where you just get frustrated afterwards now because it happened once again.

Because I feel like, okay, this one we should have won. It's one thing if you get outplayed. But at the same time, like I said, mind of a goldfish. It's a new day tomorrow, onwards to the next one and then try to replicate the good things that we did. Because we did a lot of good things tonight as well.

For the rest of us, if we're subscribing to the wisdom of Ted Lasso, we should probably be curious, not judgemental.
