With apologies to Caddyshack groundskeeper Carl Spackler:
"What an incredible Cinderella story. This unknown comes outta nowhere..."
As magical a season as Seattle Kraken goalie Joey Daccord had, it's easy to forget how short his NHL resume had been.
Daccord, drafted #199 by the Ottawa Senators in 2015, had compiled a grand total of 19 NHL appearances over four different seasons, nine with Ottawa and 10 with Seattle.
Daccord's amazing performance during the 2023 AHL Calder Cup playoffs caught the eye of Kraken management. He went on to beat out Chris Driedger for the #2 goalie job in Seattle, and became a sensation when top netminder Philipp Grubauer suffered a mid-season injury.
Daccord cementing a place for himself on Seattle's roster is the topic of today's Kraken Reaction.
