Second Forward Also Hurt; Wright, Winterton Recalled From AHL

Seattle Kraken forward Jordan Eberle reportedly was taken Wednesday to a Denver hospital. An MRI would assess the severity of a skate cut to his upper leg, suffered at a team practice earlier in the day.

According to Geoff Baker of the Seattle Times, "Kraken general manager Ron Francis said Wednesday that Eberle suffered 'a deep cut' near his quad muscle area after Jaden Schwartz stepped on a puck and lost his balance — causing his skate blade to cut Eberle."

An unidentified second Kraken player was also reportedly hurt during the practice. Accordingly, Seattle has called up two forwards from their AHL farm team in Coachella Valley.

Both Shane Wright and Ryan Winterton may play in the Kraken's next game, a Thursday match at Ball Arena against the Colorado Avalanche.

Neither Wright nor Winterton were in the Firebirds lineup for Wednesday's AHL home game against the San Diego Gulls.

Wright, the heralded 2022 1st round Kraken draft choice (4th overall), played eight regular season games and 24 playoff contests for the Firebirds last season.

Wright, a center, has four goals and two assists in seven games this season at Coachella Valley. One was a power play overtime game-winner to beat the San Jose Barracuda on Oct. 29.

Winterton, a forward taken by the Kraken in the third round in 2021, has three goals (one shorthanded) and five points in seven games. This is Winterton's first season as a pro, having played for Hamilton and London in the OHL the past three seasons.

We'll update this story should there be new developments.
