The Only General Manager In Kraken History Is Signed Through The 2026-27 Season

Seattle Kraken general manager Ron Francis on Wednesday was rewarded with a contract extension, an acknowledgement of his stewardship of the two-year-old franchise. The three-year extension will begin at the start of the 2024-25 season

“Ron has done remarkable work over the last four years and deserves this recognition," said Samantha Holloway, Kraken co-owner. "He has built a tremendous team, putting Seattle hockey on the map. He is building for long-term success and is dedicated to our city, our fans, and our community.”

Francis took the GM job in 2019. In its second season, the Kraken exceeded expectations, reaching 100 points in the regular season, and defeated the Colorado Avalanche in the first round of the playoffs.

Additionally, Francis has overseen the wildly successful launch of the AHL Coachella Valley Firebirds, who are currently competing in that league's Western Conference Final.

“I’d like to thank Sam Holloway, Tod Leiweke and the Seattle Kraken ownership group for their continued faith in me,” said Francis. “I’m surrounded by a talented staff and unbelievable fans who’ve shown incredible passion for this team. I'm excited for the future and look to build upon the strong foundation we've established."

Francis is a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame and a two-time Stanley Cup winner. He played 23 seasons in the NHL, totaling 1,798 points (549 goals, 1,249 assists).
