The Seattle Kraken are back home. Limping a bit after a winless three game road trip to start the season, but home nonetheless. The Colorado Avalanche provide the opposition for the home opener Tuesday at Climate Pledge Arena.
After acknowledging the season is just 2.5% old, The Hockey News' Adam Proteau lists four teams already "feeling the heat."
On the stovetop alongside the Sabres, Panthers and Capitals - Proteau gives the winless Oilers a pass - are the 0-2-1 Seattle Kraken.
"The Kraken have arguably the toughest next 10 games of any of the aforementioned teams. Home games against Colorado, Carolina and the Rangers, a road swing taking them to Detroit, Carolina, Florida and Tampa Bay, home games against Nashville and Calgary, and a road battle against Arizona.
"There’s a very real danger Seattle can hurt itself badly by the first week of November." Whether the Kraken right the ship or continue taking on water will depend on if they can break through their scoring malaise (two total goals in three games).
Two key Kraken had previous glory days in the Rockies: goalie Philipp Grubauer and winger Andre Burakovsky.
