We always thought the "W" in WHL stood for "Western." But with news that Winnipeg (photo above) is relocating to Wenatchee, perhaps the W actually stands for "Washington."
The major junior club, formerly the Winnipeg Ice (and Edmonton Ice and Kootenay Ice) will begin play in the 2023-24 season as the Wenatchee Wild. Located 140 miles east of Seattle, Wenatchee joins the T-Birds, Everett Silvertips, Tri-City Americans and Spokane Chiefs as WHL teams based in the Evergreen State.
And heck, the Portland Winterhawks are just across the Columbia River in Oregon.

The Seattle Kraken will have a multitude of options between now and the 2023 NHL Draft, June 28-29 in Nashville.
Like all the clubs at Bridgestone Arena, the Kraken can trade up, trade down, package players for picks, package picks for players, etc. So keep in mind, the list below is subject to change. As of now, this is the draft capital GM Ron Francis has to play with.

The 2024 Winter Classic at T-Mobile Park is guaranteed to make fans' hearts race. And that's just from purchasing tickets. Here's a sample of what entry to the New Year's Day game between the Golden Knights and Kraken may cost.
The lowest priced seats, in the right field stands, are priced at $240 per ticket, $276 with fees and taxes. Lower bowl seats between the two dugouts run between $461 for a resale ticket and $725 at the high end ($562-$761 with fees and taxes).
To look directly down at where the temporary rink's red line will be, a seat in the last row of the upper deck - Section 331, Row 25 - will set you back $360 ($396 total). If you'd like to move up to Row 2 in the same section, it will cost $515 ($551 total).
Should your plans include winning the lottery, seats are waiting for you in the Press Club. But the resale seller will only dispose of duckets in pairs. Including $1,509 in fees and taxes, the two luxury seats can be yours for $8,210.
