Kaapo Kakko of the Seattle Kraken will represent Finland in a best-on-best round-robin tournament.
The Seattle Kraken’s Kaapo Kakko is set to participate in the 2025 4 Nations Face-Off, representing his homeland of Finland starting this Thursday. This will be the first best-on-best tournament since the 2016 World Cup of Hockey in Toronto, and it will be held in Montreal and Boston from February 12-20.
NHL players from Finland, Sweden, Canada, and the United States will compete in a round-robin tournament, where each team plays every other team once. The team with the most points or highest winning percentage wins. Points are awarded as follows: 3 for a win in regulation, 2 for a win in overtime/shootout, 1 for a loss in overtime/shootout, and 0 for a loss in regulation. The top two teams will advance to a one-game final.
Kakko has quickly earned the respect of fans and teammates since joining the Kraken in December from the New York Rangers in exchange for Will Borgen. The 23 year old right winger has tallied five goals and twelve assists while playing alongside center Matty Beniers and winger Jaden Schwartz, forming one of Seattle's hottest lines.
