There's really no need to beat around the bush with this one. The St. Louis Blues were close enough to the same stratosphere as the Vancouver Canucks on Friday because of goalie Jordan Binnington.
It's hard to pick a player of the game when you get smacked around the way the Blues did, 5-0 on the second of back-to-back games on Friday, but Binnington was it.
All you had to do was watch him in the first period when the Canucks (5-2-0) outshot the Blues (3-3-1) 19-3 and had an astounding 35-4 shot attempts.
Binnington was under siege throughout the period and was the primary reason the Blues even had a fighter's chance heading into the second period down only 1-0.
But even he caved in moving forward; Binnington could only do so much and finished the game with 30 saves.
Binnington did everything bit wave the white flag in this game and that's unfortunate that his teammates in front of him didn't come to the fight like he did.
