This Lightning defenseman has been suspended.

NHL Player Safety has suspended Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Emil Lilleberg for two games due to interference on Detroit Red Wings forward J.T. Compher.

The incident occurred during the second period of Jan. 25's matchup between the Bolts and Red Wings. After Compher passed the puck, Lilleberg landed a late, high hit on the Red Wings forward.

With Lilleberg being suspended, the Lightning will now lose a solid part of their defensive group for the next two games.

Lilleberg, 23, is in the middle of a breakout season with the Lightning in 2024-25. In 45 games, he has set a new career high with 11 assists. He also has brought plenty of physicality to the Lightning's blueline, posting 76 penalty minutes and 80 hits this season.
