The Arizona Coyotes are on a roll as they defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning 3-1 on Tuesday night which marks their second consecutive victory.

On Saturday night, the Coyotes went into Vegas and beat the Golden Knights 2-0 snapping a three game losing streak and boosting morale tremendously.

Arizona went right to work in the first period in the form of a Michael Carcone goal 3:21 into the game. It’s these kinds of starts against talented teams like the Lightning that will really benefit the Coyotes and give them the kind of momentum they need to pull off upsets.

Travis Boyd struck gold in the second period to give the Coyotes a commanding 2-0 and after the first 40 minutes of play, they led 2-1.

Michael Carcone scored his second goal of the game in the third period making a strong move to the net to put the icing on the cake.

Throughout the game Connor Ingram stood on his head once again making 30 saves. The Lightning really were getting some great chances and maintained solid puck possession but it was Ingram who refused to allow Tampa Bay back in this game, continuing to make unbelievable stops.

This marked Ingram’s second start in net. Due to his hot play, Ingram has sort of taken control of the Coyotes starting goaltending position for now.

The Coyotes played hard all night long and despite all of Tampa’s championship pedigree, Arizona kept up and outplayed them for the majority of the contest.

It’s these kinds of games that show the progression that the Coyotes have made. No matter who the opponent is, the Coyotes are now a tough team to play against and are starting to look like a playoff contender.

Arizona played a fast yet physical game against the Lightning which is exactly the style of play that makes teams successful especially in the postseason.

There is still a long way to go this season but it’s these kinds of stretches that propel and give confidence to a young team like the Coyotes.
