The Arizona Coyotes may not be done when it comes to signing free agents.

According to PHNX Sports’ Craig Morgan, the Coyotes have been pursuing free-agent Matt Dumba.

The 28-year-old defenseman had four goals, 10 assists and 14 points in 79 games for the Minnesota Wild last season. Dumba has played all 598 games of his career with the Wild tallying a total of 79 goals, 157 assists and 236 points.

Signing Dumba would be an interesting move for Arizona. He would most likely be a top-four defenseman for the team and can provide a veteran presence to a young defensive core.

The Coyotes have been making moves to be more competitive, specifically trading for defenseman Sean Durzi and signing forwards Jason Zucker, Alexander Kerfoot and Nick Bjugstad.

Adding Dumba would certainly help Arizona be more competitive come next season. He can also take a leadership role on the team and mentor the young defensemen including J.J. Moser and Victor Soderstrom.

While this is just a rumor and nothing has been made official, Dumba to the Coyotes is at least something to keep an eye out for.
