Alex Galchenyuk's third stint with the Arizona Coyotes is over before it even begins.
The Coyotes placed Galchenyuk on unconditional waivers for purposes of terminating his contract on Thursday.
The 29-year-old forward signed a one-year, two-way contract with Arizona on July 1 which is why this comes as a surprise.
Galchenyuk has played a total of 654 NHL games for the Montreal Canadiens, Coyotes, Pittsburgh Penguins, Minnesota Wild, Ottawa Senators, Toronto Maple Leafs and Colorado Avalanche tallying 146 goals, 208 assists and 354 points.
According to PHNX Sports' Craig Morgan, the NHLPA is reviewing the situation surrounding Galchenyuk and his contract termination.
