Utah should consider making a splash at the NHL Trade Deadline

The Utah Hockey Club finds itself in a very interesting situation ahead of the March 7 NHL Trade Deadline.

They are only six points out of a wild-card spot in the Western Conference. With 55 points, they could very well end up pushing for a spot down the stretch.

Which is why they should be buyers at the deadline.

Utah has done a very good job of collecting draft capital and other assets. Logically, they could flip some of those assets and bring in players to help them get into the playoffs.

Next season, they have three second-round picks and two third-round picks; those could be used in trades.

A few players that could be targets for them are:

There is also the chance that GM Bill Armstrong swings for the fences and tries to land Dylan Cozens from the Buffalo Sabres. If he really wanted to go big this season, he could try to package Cozens and Bowen Byram and make a huge splash.

The trade deadline is in less than a month, and if Utah continues to find ways to win games, it'll make the next month very interesting.
