The AHL has named Artūrs Šilovs their goaltender of the month for November. The Abbotsford Canucks goalie posted a 4-1 record with a 1.01 goals-against average, a .958 save percentage and two shutouts. With the strong month, he improved his record on the season to 7-2-1 with a 2.53 goals-against average and a .909 save percentage.
Šilovs' best performance of the month came against the Henderson Silver Knights on November 17th. He stopped 29 of the 31 shots and helped kill off four straight penalties late in the third as the Canucks took the game 3-2 in overtime. With the victory, he had pushed his personal win streak at the time to four games while also his sixth game of the season allowing two or fewer goals.
2023 has been a special year for Šilovs. Not only is he excelling at the AHL level, but he also made his NHL debut back in March. Add in his spectacular performance at the World Championship, which resulted in not just a Bronze Medal but him being named tournament MVP, and you can see why the Canucks are beyond thrilled to have him in their organization.
Up next for Abbotsford is a busy month of December that includes tough matchups against the Calgary Wranglers, Coachella Valley Firebirds and Ontario Reign. While six of their 11 games are at home, this month will be challenging as the team deals with injuries at both the AHL and NHL levels.
