The Canucks defenceman has now thrown two controversial hits against Seattle Kraken players over the past two seasons.
It is safe to say that Seattle Kraken fans and media are not the biggest admirers of Vancouver Canucks, Tyler Myers. After a late hit against Matty Beniers last season that saw the Kraken rookie miss the All-Star Game, the Canucks defenceman laid another controversial hit on Friday night, this time against Oliver Bjorkstrand. While there was no penalty on the play, the argument can be made that the hit was high and late, leading to frustration from Kraken nation.
On Tuesday, Seattle-based radio host Ian Furness made those frustrations perfectly clear while appearing on Vancouver TV show Donnie & Dhali. When asked about Myers by show co-host Don Taylor, Furness called the Canucks defenceman "A big dummy." Furness would go on to say that the hit was late and that "the pucks gotta be somewhere in the same area code." He would finish the segment by calling both plays "chump hits" and discussed how Seattle as a team needs to start standing up for their teammates more consistently.
The Kraken will have to wait a while for any form of revenge on Myers, as the two sides do not play until February 22. That game will once again be in Seattle, where it would not be surprising to hear fans boo every time the Canuck defenceman touches the puck. While the two teams have only met ten times in the regular season, it is safe to say the rivalry is building between these two Cascadia opponents.
