The Vegas Golden Knights travel to take on the Boston Bruins in their final game before the 4 Nations Face-Off.
The Golden Knights started their road trip poorly, losing 4-2 to the New York Rangers and 2-1 to the New York Islanders. However, they bounced back on Thursday, beating the New Jersey Devils 3-1, and will look to go .500 on the road trip with a win over the Bruins.
The Golden Knights are now just two points back of the Edmonton Oilers for first place in the Pacific Division after they lost to the Colorado Avalanche last night.
The Bruins' season has been odd. They fired their head coach, Jim Montgomery, and replaced him with Joe Sacco, but the results have been very similar. They are just a point behind the Detroit Red Wings for the second wild card spot, but they've played two more games.
Offensively, they've been poor, ranking 25th in the NHL in goals scored per game, 23rd in shots on goal per game, 30th in power play percentage and 20th in shooting percentage. Defensively, they've allowed the 23rd most goals per game, 17th in shots allowed per game and 22nd in penalty kill percentage.
Ilya Samsonov will likely start tonight after Akira Schmid backed up Adin Hill against the Devils. Samsonov has a bit of a history with the Bruins going back to his time with the Toronto Maple Leafs. During the 2024-25 season, the 27-year-old has a 12-7-2 record with a .897 SV% and a 2.71 GAA.
Jeremy Swayman is the projected starter for the Bruins tonight, and he'll be heading to the 4 Nations Face-Off to play with Team USA.
