The Vegas Golden Knights have placed veteran forward Tanner Pearson on the injured reserve, retroactive to Feb. 2.
Pearson missed his first game of the season on Tuesday when the Golden Knights suffered a 2-1 loss to the New York Islanders. In 53 games this season, Pearson has scored nine goals and 19 points, providing offensive value in the bottom six. He's also been able to fill in on the penalty kill when asked upon.
The 32-year-old's injury is currently undisclosed, and he's been ruled out of the Golden Knights' final two games before the 4 Nations Face-Off.
Despite signing a professional tryout with the Golden Knights during training camp, Pearson has taken on a larger role than they may have expected. He's averaging 12:01 of ice time and has moved up and down the lineup as the team has dealt with injuries.
The 4 Nations break comes at a great time for Pearson. He can use the eight-day break to nurse whatever is hampering him and limit the number of games he'll miss.
With his absence, Jonas Rondbjerg has been called up from the Henderson Silver Knights. Rondbjerg, Alexander Holtz and Raphael Lavoie have all been sent down and called up to help with salary cap implications.
