Before the Hershey Bears kicked off their Calder Cup title defense against the Belleville Senators on Saturday, the players from the 2023 team received their championship rings. And — fittingly for Hershey — they're pretty sweet.
The rings, created by Baron, feature 70 different stones. The Bears logo on the top of the ring is framed by "Calder Cup Champions" and surrounded by 44 stones, which represent the team's 44 regular-season wins in 2022-23.
On the right side of the ring, Players' names and numbers are etched in and featured next to the team's bear head logo. And on the other side, the design features a chocolate drip over the Calder Cup and the year 2023. The inside of the ring has the word "FAMILY" engraved, followed by each of their series victories, and the outer edge features the team's slogans "Fear The Roar" and "Choices."
There are 12 chocolate-colored stones on the ring, which symbolize the team's 12 Calder Cup titles, and there are also 14 stones on the outer edge, which represent the team's number of playoff victories en route to the title.
Here's a look at the whole ring:
Hershey handed out the rings not only to the players still on the roster, but to Garrett Pilon as well. Pilon, now with the Senators, took off his game jersey and replaced it with his No. 18 Bears sweater one last time as he accepted his ring.
After that, the Bears raised their 2023 Calder Cup championship banner to the rafters of Giant Center. Pilon remained in his old colors and posed with his former teammates as they watched the ceremony unfold.
