The Washington Capitals have another player coming up under emergency conditions, as the team recalled Henrik Borgstrom from the AHL's Hershey Bears.
Borgstrom signed a one-year, two-way deal with the team prior to the season. He has played in Hershey all year, recording eight goals and 13 assists for 31 points in 54 games.
He is expected to play as the 18th skater on Tuesday against the Boston Bruins, and Borgstrom would be the first Finnish player to lace 'em up in D.C. since Oskar Osala in March 2009. The team also had Sami Lepistö on the roster in 2008-09.
Borgstrom joins Beck Malenstyn and Joe Snively as the other Bears who have joined Washington amid the numerous injuries to close out the season.
Alex Ovechkin (upper-body), Anthony Mantha (lower-body), Trevor van Riemsdyk (upper-body) and Nic Dowd (undisclosed) are all out again against the Bruins. T.J. Oshie is also out and has been shut down for the remainder of the season.
