The Capitals are looking to bounce back from a shutout loss to Tampa Bay.

ARLINGTON, V.A. — The Washington Capitals will face Peter Laviolette’s New York Rangers for the first time since being swept last season, and they’re hoping their new-look lineup leads to more success than last season.
The lineup will tweak slightly for Washington, winners of five of the last six. Mike Sgarbossa, who was called up from the AHL’s Hershey Bears, will be the third-line center as Hendrix Lapierre draws out as a healthy scratch.
Lapierre has struggled to open the season, going seven games without a point while his third line has struggled to get much going. A healthy scratch will give him the opportunity to hit reset, per head coach Spencer Carbery.
“With the way his season has started and the way his game has trended… gives him a little bit of a mental break,” Carbery added.
Other than that, the forward lines and defensive pairings will remain intact, as Sonny Milano and Alex Alexeyev will again be scratched.
Logan Thompson will start in net as he and Charlie Lindgren continue to alternate.
Here is the expected lineup:
Aliaksei Protas-Dylan Strome-Alex Ovechkin
Connor McMichael-Pierre-Luc Dubois-Tom Wilson
Jakub Vrana-Mike Sgarbossa-Andrew Mangiapane
Brandon Duhaime-Nic Dowd-Taylor Raddysh
Jakob Chychrun-John Carlson
Martin Fehervary-Dylan McIlrath
Rasmus Sandin-Trevor van Riemsdyk
Logan Thompson
Charlie Lindgren
Matt Roy will miss his seventh straight game with a lower-body injury, but he continues to make progress as he joined the team for morning skate in a non-contact jersey.
Puck drop is at 7:30 p.m. ET at Capital One Arena.
