The Capitals' AHL-affiliate will face either the Milwaukee Admirals or Coachella Valley Thunderbirds in the Calder Cup Finals.

The Washington Capitals will see their AHL affiliate Hershey Bears in the Calder Cup Final after they clinched the Eastern Conference title on Friday.

Hershey defeated the Rochester Americans 1-0 in Game 6 on Friday to advance to the final.

The team will face the winner of the Western Conference Final between the Milwaukee Admirals and Coachella Valley Thunderbirds. That series is currently tied 2-2.

Shane Gersich scored the lone goal for the Bears in the victory, with Beck Malenstyn and Gabriel Carlsson picking up the assists. Hunter Shepard stopped all 24 shots against for the shutout.

This will be Hershey's 24th Calder Cup Finals appearance and their first time back in the finals since 2016, when it was swept by the Cleveland Monsters. The Bears won back-to-back titles in 2009 and 2010 and have the most tiles in AHL history (11).

Several players have stepped up for Hershey in this run, and one of the top names has been Aliaksei Protas. The Capitals prospect has a team-leading five goals and 12 points in 13 games so far. Malenstyn has also had an impressive run and continues to stand out with his physicality, grit and two-way play.

Washington has also seen up-and-comers Connor McMichael, Hendrix Lapierre and Vincent Iorio step up for the Bears, while Joe Snively has also kept pace as a top contributor. Not only that, but AHL regulars in Sam Anas and Mason Morelli have stayed consistent. Ethen Frank is another name to watch as he looks to finish his AHL campaign strong and build momentum going into his first NHL contract year.
