Pacioretty now has points in back-to-back outings.

WASHINGTON — "La Bamba" rang through Capital One Arena on Thursday, as Max Pacioretty scored his first goal since joining the Washington Capitals. He is four games into his return from a re-torn Achilles.

With Washington down 2-0 to open the second period, Pacioretty dropped to one knee to fire home a one-time feed from Ovechkin, and he beat Joey Daccord to make it a 2-1 game.

Here was the goal, which marked his first since Jan. 10, 2023:

Pacioretty had three goals in five games with the Carolina Hurricanes last season, including the one on the 10th. He would re-tear his Achilles, which he initially hurt in August 2022, just two games later.

The 35-year-old now has points in back-to-back games for the Capitals. With the primary assist, Ovechkin extended his point streak to six games.

Pacioretty said he continues to feel better each game and that he no longer feels any fear with regard to his Achilles, which took nearly a year to heal fully.

He does, however, have special adjustments made to his skates to accommodate for the change in his tendon.
