    Capitals On The Hockey News
    Dec 11, 2023, 21:00

The Capitals could be moving from D.C. to Arlington in the coming years.

The Washington Capitals could be on the move in the coming years, and the team may be eventually be calling Potomac Yard in Virginia its new home.

Per The Washington Post, Virginia lawmakers met to discuss a deal and could potentially vote on a deal with Monumental Sports & Entertainment that would bring the Capitals and NBA's Washington Wizards to Potomac Yard. Both would play in a new state-of-the-art, new mixed-used facility, which would be owned by a Virginia stadium authority and leased to MSE, owned by Ted Leonsis.

The potential move comes after news last month of the team seeking millions for renovations at Capital One Arena amid struggles in D.C.

Washington has been playing at Capital One Arena, formerly known as Verizon Center and MCI center, since it was constructed in 1997. Prior to that, the Capitals played out in Landover, Maryland.

This isn't the first discussion of a move for the franchise. The Capitals had been linked to Crystal City last season.
