Winnipeg aims to win three crucial divisional games over the new Utah Mammoth next season.

The Jets are coming off a historic year with franchise best numbers across the board. If they want to find themselves in a similar position, they'll need to win crucial games starting in the Central Division. The Central is tougher than ever and with only three available spots plus a pair of wild card spots, they need to win these games.

One of their key divisional opponents is the Utah Mammoth, who continue to make moves due to their aggressive owner and will be a team to look out for in the upcoming season.

The Jets had a hard time figuring out Utah last season as they split their four-game season series with each game being decided by three goals in each contest. The home team won every game of the series and unlikely for the Jets, they'll be facing off just three times this season but two of the games will be in Salt Lake City.

The Winnipeg Jets could begin eyeing Sabres’ Alex Tuch as a potential trade target to strengthen their second line if Gustav Nyquist continues to underperform.

Winnipeg is coming off a very impressive season as they finished with the league's best record at 56-22-4 carried by the league's best defense, averaging just 2.32 goals against per game. They held a significant gap over the next closest team in the LA Kings that held a 2.48 average. Their offence was also elite, finishing top four with averaging 3.35 goals per game.

One of the top contenders to break out in the 2025-26 season is the Utah Mammoth, who have been steadily building toward a playoff push.

Their offseason moves included landing J.J. Peterka in a blockbuster trade with the Buffalo Sabres, re-signing key middle-six center Jack McBain, adding a tough and dependable bottom-six forward in Brandon Tanev, taking a chance on former first-round high-end prospect Kailer Yamamoto, and bolstering their defense with Stanley Cup champion Nate Schmidt.

The Mammoth ranked around the middle of the league last season, boasting the 17th-best defense while their offense struggled, finishing just outside the bottom 12. The team hopes that their recent additions will be enough to push them into playoff contention, after falling eight points short of a wild card spot last year.

Next season’s matchups promise to be exciting, starting on October 26th with the Jets hosting their sixth home game. Winnipeg will then head into the mountains on December 21st, just before Christmas, for their first away game. The season series will conclude on April 14th with a potential winner-take-all showdown.

With the division being so competitive and every game carrying high stakes, these matchups are sure to be intense and some of the most thrilling games Winnipeg will see all season.
