The 'likely' stems from the day-to-day injury designation placed on the shoulders of forward Kevin Stenlund.
Although it was fellow forward Nikolaj Ehlers that garnered most of the attention, health-wise over the past few days, the real uncertainty is that of Stenlund's injury and his expected timeline.
According to Jets head coach Rick Bowness, Ehlers - his speedy winger - is still considered 'day-to-day', despite the Danish forward taking part in the team's full practice on Monday. But to add to the playoff mystique, Bowness has kept his cards close to his chest.
For the case of Stenlund - a depth centreman - it is more apparent that he truly is going to be a game-time decision in advance of the opening game of the first round series.
"Kevin is going to skate tomorrow morning," Bowness said following his team's skate. "I'd say we're counting on him playing, but he'll probably be a game-time decision. Just talking to him now, he's feeling better. If he's feeling strong enough tomorrow, he'll play."
David Gustafsson took Stenlund's place on the fourth line during line rushes in Vegas on Monday. He will likely take Stenlund's place if the big centreman is unable to go.
Both players told media that they were "good to go" on Tuesday, despite Bowness indicated the two were still "game-time decisions".
Puck drop is set for 8:30 PM central time on Tuesday, and the game can be viewed live on Sportsnet in Canada.
