The Guelph Storm have had an up-and-down start to the 2025-26 season, and they would benefit greatly by getting back their number-one centerman, and captain, Jett Luchanko.

Luchanko was one of the biggest surprises out of training camp in the entire NHL one year ago. After being selected 13th overall by the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2024 NHL Draft, the star OHL forward cracked his NHL team’s opening night roster.

Luchanko played four games for the Flyers to start the 2024-25 season, and then was returned to the Guelph Storm of the OHL.

It’s deja vu for the London, Ontario, native and Philadelphia. Luchanko impressed the Flyers in training camp and preseason, once again making their opening night roster to start this season. However, he has suited up in four of Philadelphia’s six games thus far this season, and is averaging a lowly 8:58 TOI.

Luchanko is averaging less time on ice than he was a year ago. So, what’s next? Because having your star prospect sit in the press box consistently or play only fourth-line minutes isn’t ideal for his development.

Anthony Di Marco, a contributor with the Daily Faceoff, recently wrote a story on the Guelph Storm captain and his situation in the big league with the Flyers.

Will Jett Luchanko’s latest NHL stint with Flyers end soon? Will Jett Luchanko’s latest NHL stint with Flyers end soon? The Flyers are weighing their options with their 2024 first-rounder.
