After both began their seasons in the AHL, Brandt Clarke & Brennan Othmann have been called up to the NHL by their respective teams.

Barrie Colts alumnus Brandt Clarke, and Flint Firebirds/Peterborough Petes alumnus Brennan Othmann have both been called up to the NHL.

Former Colts captain Brandt Clarke has had quite the start to his professional career. He played 9 games in the NHL and 5 games in the AHL last season before heading back to Barrie, but this year he has earned a full time role professionally.

Clarke has been electric in the AHL with the Ontario Reign, with 32 points through 30 games thus far. He has not only been one of the best rookie defenders, but one of the best defenders overall in the AHL.

This performance has earned him a call up to the big club — the Los Angeles Kings.

Clarke's ability to create and generate offensively is off-the-charts for his age. He's a smooth skater who oozes confidence and loves having the puck on his stick.

With the Barrie Colts for the second half of last season, Clarke showcased all of that and more. The OHL was a playground for him, and he was a man amongst boys.

Clarke will now get his second career crack at the NHL, and this time it is with 30 AHL games underneath him.

Brennan Othmann has also gotten the news that many New York Rangers fans have been waiting for — a call up to the NHL.

With the Hartford Wolfpack in the AHL this season, Othmann hasn't skipped a beat with 23 points in his first 29 professional games.

The sharpshooting winger can score goals in bunches, and that is what he did in his time with Flint and Peterborough in the OHL. Othmann won a championship with the Petes last season, to end his major junior career on a high note.

Now, Othmann will get his first chance with the big club.

The New York Rangers are highly offensive, and they like to play a run-and-gun game with their speed and skill. Othmann should fit seamlessly into this mould.

The two former Don Mills Flyers are doing big things, and are representing the OHL proudly while doing so.
