Former Pittsburgh Penguins forward Mike Rupp will not be part of the Sportsnet Pittsburgh television team for the upcoming 2025-26 season.

Rupp, who played for the Penguins from 2009-11 and was part of the broadcast team for the last two seasons, was told by the network that he won't be returning when the season starts in October. The news was first reported by Matt Vensel of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Rupp alternated doing color commentary with Colby Armstrong and Phil Bourque during the last two seasons while Josh Getzoff was the play-by-play announcer. Getzoff will return as the play-by-play announcer for this season while Armstrong and Bourque split the color commentary reps.

As for what this means for who does the radio commentary alongside play-by-play voice Joe Brand, that remains to be seen.

The Penguins will likely make a full announcement regarding their full TV and radio broadcast teams once the season gets closer.
