The Wheeling Nailers, the ECHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins, re-signed goaltender Jaxon Castor on Thursday, August 7.

The Nailers announced the news via their official Twitter/X account during the afternoon.

Castor has been with the Nailers for the previous two seasons and will spend a third with them this upcoming season. He played in 16 games during the 2023-24 season, finishing with a .899 save percentage, a 2.71 goals-against average, and a 10-4-1 record.

He then played in 14 games this past season, finishing with an .872 save percentage and a 3.65 goals-against average. Castor is a good bet to be the backup for whoever starts for the Nailers this year since the Penguins are stacked at the goalie position in their system.

There is going to be a lot of competition for playing time among goalies at all three levels in the organization.
