Another Former Blue Jacket O.G. has been given another high honor.

David Výborný, a 1993 draft pick of the Edmonton Oilers and member of the inaugural Columbus Blue Jackets expansion team in 2000, has been officially inducted into the IIHF Hall of Fame.

Back on January 3rd of this year, it was announced that Výborný, along with NHL legends Henrik Lundqvist, Frans Nielsen, and Zdeno Chara will be in the 2025 class.

Výborný played in 543 NHL games, all for the Columbus Blue Jackets. He amassed a stat line of 113g-204a-317p Points and added 36 PP goals and 7 SHG. He was the Original #9 for the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Výborný played for the Czech national team in different levels from 1991 to 2007.

    Per an IIHF press release,

Výborný played during the glory days of the Czechs’ dominance in IIHF competition. He was part of the team’s historic run of three consecutive gold medals at the Men’s Worlds (1999-2001) and won five gold medals in a ten-year span (1996-2005). In all, he played in 12 World Championships in addition to the 2006 Olympics (bronze), 2004 World Cup, and two World Junior Championships (1993, 1994). Vyborny also had a lengthy and successful career in the NHL, playing 543 games with Columbus over a seven-year period (2000-08).

David Výborný said at his induction, “I’m so happy and excited about getting this honour. Special thanks to the Czech Republic. Big love!”

David Výborný was an exciting piece of early Blue Jackets history. From 2000 to 2008, he, along with Rick Nash, gave the fans hope in an otherwise hopeless part of the Columbus Blue Jackets history.

Congrats to David Výborný on being elected into the IIHF Hall Of Fame.
