Team North America and Team Europe will not participate in the next World Cup of Hockey as the tournament reverts back to an eight-country format.

The NHL suspended relationships with the KHL recently. But as Adam Proteau writes, don't count out it having an impact on Russia's involvement in a future World Cup of Hockey, either.
