From brilliant saves to tight finishes, here are five performances that stood out.

There were plenty of top individual and team performances Friday in the USHL. Here are five that stand out.

    Jack Galanek: Muskegon Lumberjacks

The Jacks scored four goals during a three-minute span in the first period for a 7-3 win over the NTDP U17 squad, fueled by one Jack in particular.

Jack Galanek tallied five points on the night including two goals and three assists. After Muskegon’s Drew Stewart tied the game 1-1 with 7:29 to play in the first period, the 5-foot-11, 177-pound Galanek potted his two goals just 20 seconds apart to give his team a 3-1 lead they would never relinquish.

Casey Mutryn scored twice and added an assist in a losing effort for the U17s.

    Caleb Heil: Madison Capitals

In a 4-0 shutout of the Waterloo Black Hawks, the Capitols netminder stopped all 24 shots he faced to earn his first perfect outing of the season.

The Caps scored the only goal of the first period, added another in the second and tallied two shorthanded goals in the third for the 4-0 victory.

While it was Madison’s first shutout of the season, it was Waterloo’s third time to be blanked.

    Kyle Jones: Tri-City Storm

The Storm netminder made 23 saves in a 2-1 victory over the Fargo Force to wrap up the USHL’s Frosty Cup in Frisco, Texas.

After Fargo tied the game 1-1 on a 2-on-1 rush at 17:55 of the second period, Attila Lippai nailed a one-timer late in the third period. Jones made several key saves including one in the final seconds to earn his first victory in net.

    Jake Delaney: Sioux City Musketeers

The Sioux City defenseman tallied a goal and three assists in a home win over Omaha.

After the Lancers took a 1-0 lead, Sioux City proceeded to fire off six unanswered goals to take a 6-1 lead into the first intermission.

Delaney potted his first goal toward the end of the frame for the Musketeers’ sixth goal.

After the Lancers mounted a comeback to cut their deficit in half, Nick Sikora made the score 7-3 against his former team for the eventual final score.

Hunter Ramos also chipped in with two goals of his own to help the cause.

    Youngstown Phantoms

There were numerous heroes in the Phantoms’ 5-4 shootout win over the NTDP U18 team Friday night.

Coleson Hanrahan scored Youngstown’s game-tying goal at the 7:14 mark of the third period. Columbus Blue Jackets prospect Melvin Strahl played the game’s final 25 minutes, stopping three shots in the skills competition to earn the victory for the Phantoms.
