Tri-City Storm head coach Anthony Noreen is the new bench boss for Miami University

Tri-City Storm Head Coach and President of Hockey Operations Anthony Noreen will become the seventh head coach in Miami University (OH) hockey history next season.

"I am honored and humbled to be the next head hockey coach at Miami University," said Noreen in a release. "I would like to thank David Sayler and Brad Okel for their belief in me, and the alumni of this storied program for creating something special to build upon. I look forward to being a part of the next chapter of Miami Hockey and establishing a standard that all of our supporters can be proud of."

Since becoming head coach of the Storm prior to the 2017-18 season, Noreen has compiled a 236-126-24-18 record. The Chicago native initially assumed the dual role of head coach and general manager.

Before the 2019-20 season, Noreen was elevated to the President of Hockey Operations for Tri-City while remaining the team's head coach. In seven seasons, he has been named USHL Coach of the Year three times.

Noreen guided the Tri-City Storm to a league-best 47-11-3-1 record in 2021-22, earning the Anderson Cup Trophy, awarded annually to the USHL's regular season champion.

He will remain with the Storm through the remainder of the regular season and postseason. Tri-City currently holds the No. 4 seed in the Western Conference, with a 27-21-4-6 record (64).

The Storm are just three points back of the third-place Waterloo with four regular-season games remaining. Tri-City hosts Sioux Falls at the Viaero Center for a two-game set beginning on Friday.
