The Utah Hockey Club has announced that they have placed defenseman Juuso Valimaki on waivers.
The move comes as the blue line is now fully healthy with the return of Sean Durzi.
Valimaki has scored two goals and three assists in 43 games with Utah this season. He has been a healthy scratch for the past eight games.
He recently competed in the 4 Nations Face-Off tournament, representing Finland, though he did not appear in a game.
Originally drafted by the Calgary Flames in the first round of the 2017 NHL Draft, Valimaki was placed on waivers by the Flames and later claimed by the Arizona Coyotes. When the Coyotes ceased operations, he became a member of Utah.
If Valimaki clears waivers, he will likely report to Utah’s AHL affiliate, the Tucson Roadrunners.
