Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe updated the status of Auston Matthews, who took the ice at Ford Performance Centre on Thursday, but stepped away minutes before practice began. Joe Thornton was also absent following an injury in the third period of Wednesday's 3-1 loss to the Edmonton Oilers.
