The Leafs and Oilers are two of the hottest Canadian teams this season but have played in very few meaningful games, especially when it comes to the Stanley Cup Finals, but a finals matchup between the teams this year could be legendary.

    Connor McDavid and Auston Matthews

The Toronto Maple Leafs and Edmonton Oilers are only separated by a single point in the league standings and are two of Canada's most popular NHL clubs. When it comes to their history, however, they have played a lack of any very meaningful games, especially when it comes to hockey's ultimate stage, the Stanley Cup Finals.

The teams feature two of hockey's hottest stars in Connor McDavid and Auston Matthews — both of whom have been in Hart Trophy contention throughout the season — and seeing the two square off for the Cup would be something out of a dream. And even with the two teams being Canadian, the matchup would likely have mass appeal on the American side of the border as the Arizona native Matthews is arguably one of the greatest American-born players to ever lace up a pair of skates. Pitting these two juggernauts of the sport against each other in the finals would be an unreal matchup to say the least.
