

ARLINGTON, V.A. — The NHLPA Rookie Showcase is returning to the District, as the annual event will take place at MedStar Capilals Iceplex on Sept. 3.
Washington Capitals rookie Ryan Leonard will be one of the several top prospects on display, along with 2025 No. 1 overall pick and New York Islanders prospect Matthew Schaefer, Zeev Buium and Quinn Hutson, the older brother of Capitals prospect Cole and Montreal Canadiens star Lane.
Leonard appeared in the final nine games of the regular season for Washington before appearing in eight playoff games, picking up a goal and assist.
Players will be made available to the media and pose for trading card pictures for Upper Deck in their official team uniforms.

As Washington Capitals winger Aliaksei Protas prepares to return to D.C. and prove last year wasn't a one-off, he's also looking forward to seeing what his younger brother, Ilya, can do in his second year with the organization.
