Ottawa Charge starter Emerance Maschmeyer will miss at least the next month, after the Ottawa Charge placed their goaltender on long term injured reserve. Maschmeyer was hurt Tuesday against Minnesota while allowing a goal against the Minnesota Frost.

Maschmeyer had just recorded her 1000th career save, the first goalie in PWHL history to do so. She suffered a lower-body injury on the play and needed to be helped off the ice by trainers.

According to the PWHL, "Further testing will be necessary to determine the extent of the injury."

The injury comes at a time while the Ottawa Charge are fighting for a playoff spot currently sitting five points out. The team will now rely on third round pick Gwyneth Philips. Philips was a back-to-back First Team All-American with Northeastern before joining Ottawa.

To add goaltending depth, the Charge signed netminder Lucy Morgan who has spent the bulk of her season with the Minnesota Frost as a reserve. Morgan appeared in one game for the Frost this season allowing five goals in a 5-0 loss to last place New York making 29 saves. Morgan played with the University of Minnesota last season.

The Charge are back in action Saturday against the Boston Fleet in Ottawa.
