Debunking rumors and detailing design evolution, discover how fan feedback will shape the Navy Lighthouse concept before it officially hits the ice for the 2027-28 season.

On Thursday night, the New York Islanders announced that the Navy Lighthouse jersey concept had won their 2027-28 third jersey competition:

Fans had opinions -- lots of them -- throughout the process and after the winning announcement.

Let's start with the person who designed this sweater. While we don't know their name just yet, it wasn't an Islanders employee who created it. That was a rumor someone started using false information.

The winner will be announced at a later date and I believe there will be a big story done on all eight finalists, after speaking with one of them during the process.

The next thing is that this jersey will not be worn this season, so everyone take a breath.

There will be an Islanders Remix sweater this season, rumored to be a white fisherman -- I can't confirm or deny at this time.

The next thing is that this lighthouse jersey, the way it looks right now, is a concept, not the final product.

While we should expect the jersey to be navy, I would expect more detail, whether that's shoulder patches, four stripes for the four Stanley Cups, or another detail to make the jersey pop more.

The Islanders will be building out the kit, and whether you want to believe it or not, they will be using feedback from the comment section to help make this a jersey the fan base can be proud of.

At the end of the day, pleasing every fan is impossible. I do think it was time for the lighthouse logo to be front and center on a sweater, especially given it's importance to Long Island.

The good news is that the 2026-27 season is fast approaching with only a few weeks before your players are back on the ice for training camp.
